I jus’ dunno B... If there’s anything more heart warming than the thought of you and your mom checking out my site together and getting off on my bent sense of humor. I especially dig that you get what I’m about through my pictures, it’s what any artist strives for when all is said and done.

And thanks for the compliments on ‘Losing My Religion’, that was a very special project and I am thrilled (I can’t tell you this enough) that it touched your heart in the way that it did.

Linda, that’s a great compliment from someone who I consider a true artist in the purest sense of the word.

As for the fireworks… don’t know about the artistic value of my nakedness, but that image is one of my favorites too simply for the complexity of its creation, and the fact that it was done for a charity for the blind.

Kinda cool that you preferred two of my favourite straight forward photography shots to the wackier composites... after all, the actual photograph is the basic foundation of the art. The rest, even though it gives me equal satisfaction getting it right, is generally smoke and mirrors :-)

Hey Lib! I love that you spent time reading the descriptions. And yeah, I remember that Twilight Zone episode very well... possibly what inspired the Flight Home picture. Thanks for taking the time to look Ethan, the 2 you mention are actually both personal faves so you are obviously in tune with my bent take on visual expression. You totally get that these images are the actual DNA of my universe, and it gives me great pleasure to hear that you appreciate that as well as the technicality of their realization. Don't know if the man behind the lens possibly leans a bit more towards the Johnny Rotten, but I got zero problem being put in the same sentence as either one. As for the rare organisms, I'm happy you acknowledge the abundant presence of those in my universe through my pictures Gerald. Thanks so much for your fabulous take on my affliction!

I did toy with the idea of writing an autobiography Saskia, but in the end it was lots more fun doing these pictures which probably tell a better story than I could have with words alone. And I'm happy you read the descriptions cause even if each picture tells a piece of the story, each one has an essential story of its own. As far as seeing what goes on behind the scenes at the studio goes, I could show you some amazing stuff. But then of course, I'd have to kill you. Which wouldn't be very fair after putting such a cool comment on my page :-) Thank you SO much for appreciating the arduousness that goes into doing what I love in the ever decreasing amount of time in which I've got to do it.

Joey, as we've discussed it's a total labor of love. Especially as a large number of those layered photos were pre-digital and so were scanned from negatives. Without that level of love there would absolutely be no Bill Funk Photography. Many thanks for appreciating the passion :-)

Thanks Pam, a lifetime of personal stories pretty much sums it up. Although I get a bit of beer money from selling my work on RedBubble, for me photography has always been more about the story telling than about the cash. You see my pictures in the way I want them to be seen. And if you get inspiration from walking through where they live, then I'm really happy you stopped by!

Andy, your comment hits on the essence of what photography is all about for me. Appealing to the senses and emotions is paramount, as you will well know by the visual impact of your own fabulous images… yes, skill helps, but when it works it’s “the eye” that creates the impact and tells the story. As I said in a previous reply, without that, it’s only a picture. Your compliment made my day.

You're right, there are a couple of dodgy ones (which only a mother could hate :-) that I couldn't really leave out due to the level of technique involved. Happy New Year backatcha Denzil! OK, don't get me started on RedBubble. Those were fabulous years when RB was just revving up, we were such a tight community and it was all about the artists and the art. The ability to sell via the site was the icing on the cake and that's the way we all hoped it would stay. Of course with the growing number of contributors, the commercial side started making lots of money for the owners so it grew into a hard sell machine that has very little style and the artists are very much relegated to the closet. BUT... as you say, I don't see there's any point in closing down my account as people are buying my stuff and I don't have to do jack. So now I've got a cool place where my stuff lives where I can make it all about me and my asylum of a mind AND I can link it to RB and still get gum money. Win / win. And btw, all three of those pics you mention are big personal faves so many thanks for your support. We seem to inspire each other and that is the ground zero of creativity. So cool to get your feedback !! xo

Ya know what Cia? You're so far the only one who took their shoes off. So thanks for that cause I won't have to swiffer!! Sharon, I miss the days when I had time on my hands to do straight-forward experimental shots like What's On My Stove. And in the end those shots probably took less time than the heavily Photoshopped images. So absolutely let me see some of your results... they might inspire me to continue! In the meantime, thanks so much for leaving a comment... and for noticing the Australia / South America interplay, I should add that to the description :-)

OJ was always a big inspiration Mandy, he never cooperated unless he was just about to doze off so I did ultimately find a successful way to work with him. Mirror Mirror was one of the earlier ones, and as do all of my pics with OJ it holds big real estate in my heart. Thanks so much for the visit and especially for leaving such a cool comment. Von, you know how much your positive feedback is appreciated on my planet! I did feel the need to have my work in a place where I had more control over presentation than I had on RB. My work does still sell over there so I'll hopefully never run out of chewing gum... but in here it's more about me and my creativity rather than marketing with hard sell. That film was always a challenge to work with Luuk, you never knew what you were gonna get till it was developed. But it was fun and would love to get back to it... if I could still get hold of the film... and find someone on this planet to develop it. Thanks for the visit!

Thanks Wax, I know you dig the black background... I'm surprised more photographers don't realize how much that adds to the dynamic of an image's presentation. The site designer kept it clean and simple and easy to navigate. Cool of you to stop by with a comment!

Always a treat to get feedback from old RB friends Adam, many thanks for popping in! Cool you dig the studded skull, my designer just rocked up with the idea and it was a no-brainer to put it on the welcome page. Don't think it moves on an iPhone so I'm happy you're on a machine that lets it do its thing :-) Happy too you like the infrared... few these days know what it was like to work with that amazing film which exposed to heat rather than light. It reacted differently to varied ambient conditions and you had to bracket pretty wide to make sure you ended up with a result. Florida seemed to love the stuff.
