Salut Salem,
Pour en revenir à notre discussion, ton appréciation du fait que je n'ai pas recours à l'IA dans mon travail est grandement appréciée.
Respect right backatcha!
Carolina
Fri Jun 21 2024Your dedication and attention to detail is inspiring, and every image you share is a work of art. Keep it up, you rock!
Bill Funk
It's all about attention to detail with me Carolina, and it's cool that you see the dedication in my work.
Many thanks for the compliment, you rock too!

Mon Aug 07 2023Just showed my Mom your portfolio; she LOVED it. Absolutely love the humour you inject into your work- it’s both refreshing and surprising to see the various comical elements here and there- like little undiscovered treasures. And don’t even get me started on Losing My Religion. I was beyond elated to read just how you created the composite: Gibralter, Spain, Waterloo! No wonder it’s my favourite piece; its additions span multiple countries. What a pic and what a story. Great site, BB, and excellent work (per the norm)……! Luh you! -B
Bill Funk
I jus’ dunno B... If there’s anything more heart warming than the thought of you and your mom checking out my site together and getting off on my bent sense of humor. I especially dig that you get what I’m about through my pictures, it’s what any artist strives for when all is said and done.
And thanks for the compliments on ‘Losing My Religion’, that was a very special project and I am thrilled (I can’t tell you this enough) that it touched your heart in the way that it did.
Thanks so much to you both for the visit, and for sharing your thoughts.
Luh you right back! - BB
Linda
Sat Jul 15 2023Your images, your imagination and your skill is nothing short of spectacular! It is too hard to pick a favourite artwork, as they all just so good - but I kinda really like the fireworks one - because you’re NAKED in it 😬 😉👍
Bill Funk
Linda, that’s a great compliment from someone who I consider a true artist in the purest sense of the word.
As for the fireworks… don’t know about the artistic value of my nakedness, but that image is one of my favorites too simply for the complexity of its creation, and the fact that it was done for a charity for the blind.
Many thanks for taking the time to explore my planet 😎
Joel
Mon Jun 19 2023Nice site, cool variety of pics! I particularly like Winter in Tervuren and Sleepless in Manhattan
Bill Funk
Hey Joel, many thanks for the visit!
Kinda cool that you preferred two of my favourite straight forward photography shots to the wackier composites... after all, the actual photograph is the basic foundation of the art. The rest, even though it gives me equal satisfaction getting it right, is generally smoke and mirrors :-)
Libby
Thu Feb 23 2023Hey Bill, It took me awhile to get through your entertaining commentaries and descriptions of how you pulled off these amazing images. Some I had seen previously. There was a long time ago Twilight Zone episode where John Lithgow spots a creepy gnome from his window seat tearing apart the plane engine on top of the wing. To this day I check the wing. Now I'll be looking for skeletal bats as well. Your family provides you with some beautiful subjects! And now I have been to Flagler Beach also. Thanks for one Colorado reference! Come back any time.
Bill Funk
Hey Lib! I love that you spent time reading the descriptions. And yeah, I remember that Twilight Zone episode very well... possibly what inspired the Flight Home picture. And that you spotted that the crow in William's Arc was from Colorado (the Painted Desert is not only in Arizona!) means that you really did go deep :-) Thanks so much for the visit and for the fabulous feedback... and keep checking the wings... xo
Ethan
Tue Nov 15 2022These are some great pictures Bill! I particularly love rat cat and the January calendar photo, it gave me a good laugh! The ICP photos are also cool, it's nice to be able to show off the collection in such a neat way.
Bill Funk
Thanks for taking the time to look Ethan, the 2 you mention are actually both personal faves so you are obviously in tune with my bent take on visual expression. Thanks too for appreciating the look of the site, it took some tweaking and fine tuning but I think we got it rocking in the end. Bless you for commenting!
Sam
Thu Oct 13 2022It is with great interest that Sabine and I traveled through your site and you were right: one must read the captions! They all tell with a lot of tenderness and details the very particular universe that is yours. You put as much care in composing your images as you do in maintaining your instruments in the studio. Bravo for your creativity!
Bill Funk
Thanks so much for the kind attention you and Sabine gave to my pictures, and especially that you took the time to look at the captions. You totally get that these images are the actual DNA of my universe, and it gives me great pleasure to hear that you appreciate that as well as the technicality of their realization. Look forward to seeing you both again soon!
Gerald
Tue Oct 04 2022Bill Funk.. a lens halfway between Mondino and Johnny Rotten. And obviously... the man has a beautiful soul as some rare organisms and some objects... definitely visible !
Bill Funk
Don't know if the man behind the lens possibly leans a bit more towards the Johnny Rotten, but I got zero problem being put in the same sentence as either one. As for the rare organisms, I'm happy you acknowledge the abundant presence of those in my universe through my pictures Gerald. Thanks so much for your fabulous take on my affliction!
Saskia
Thu Sep 15 2022These amazing photos are like a diary of the story of your life, with background info. Your descriptions seem heartfelt and are often humorous! The photos of the guitars and drums and the descriptions of the arduous processes to get them just right are very cool. I'd like to see more photos of behind the scenes at ICP Studios such as performers/performances. It would be fascinating to see what goes on there!
Bill Funk
I did toy with the idea of writing an autobiography Saskia, but in the end it was lots more fun doing these pictures which probably tell a better story than I could have with words alone. And I'm happy you read the descriptions cause even if each picture tells a piece of the story, each one has an essential story of its own. As far as seeing what goes on behind the scenes at the studio goes, I could show you some amazing stuff. But then of course, I'd have to kill you. Which wouldn't be very fair after putting such a cool comment on my page :-) Thank you SO much for appreciating the arduousness that goes into doing what I love in the ever decreasing amount of time in which I've got to do it.
Joey @ Arthouse18
Tue Aug 30 2022Bill's layering of photos to create one masterful print is almost unimaginable. Any other photographer would have a staff of 12 to do what he painstakingly does single handedly.
Bill Funk
Joey, as we've discussed it's a total labor of love. Especially as a large number of those layered photos were pre-digital and so were scanned from negatives. Without that level of love there would absolutely be no Bill Funk Photography. Many thanks for appreciating the passion :-)
Pamela
Tue May 03 2022A photography website that is so much more... it's a lifetime of personal stories, the evolution of techniques and technology. Each image reveals potential... such an inspiring website!
Bill Funk
Thanks Pam, a lifetime of personal stories pretty much sums it up. Although I get a bit of beer money from selling my work on RedBubble, for me photography has always been more about the story telling than about the cash. You see my pictures in the way I want them to be seen. And if you get inspiration from walking through where they live, then I'm really happy you stopped by!
Andy
Mon Jul 19 2021The creative energy and thought process that went into these impresses me as much as the end results which are stunning. Dramatic subjects, story lines, symbolism, and fine technique combine well in your world. Mastery of the software is important but meaningless without the gift of what I call "the eye" for what appeals to our senses and emotions. You've got it.
Bill Funk
Andy, your comment hits on the essence of what photography is all about for me. Appealing to the senses and emotions is paramount, as you will well know by the visual impact of your own fabulous images… yes, skill helps, but when it works it’s “the eye” that creates the impact and tells the story. As I said in a previous reply, without that, it’s only a picture. Your compliment made my day.
Inge
Sun Jun 20 2021Hi Bill, The pictures are amazing, nice to read the story behind them.
Bill Funk
Many thanks for the appreciation Inge. Truth is, without the story they'd all just be pictures :-)
Martha
Fri Jan 22 2021Hi Bill. I checked out "Gear Head" and I think it is really good. I particularly got a kick out of the story behind it!
Bill Funk
Thanks for checking out the latest entry! Of course this was more about the original art than its photograph, but it's still portraiture straight from my own bent take on machinery :-) And glad you dug the story, without the history it would have simply been a generic bent take on machinery!! xo
Lois
Thu Jan 14 2021Ahhh Billy ... what fun ... love your new webhome!!! Such a kick to visit with so many of my old favorites ... Birdpuss and Losing My Religion and of course, Happy New Year ... and ALL!!!! So many great images ... so many great smiles remembered from the days when I saw them for the first time!!! Keep rockin', kiddo!!!!! All good things, always, Lois
Bill Funk
Hey Lois! So cool you dig the site and big thanks for dropping by with a comment!! Great smiles all around during those early years on RB, a recent trip back made me realize how much I miss that priceless interaction between artists sharing creative inspiration. OK, maybe it's a different world now... but at least we've got that to look back on when we now and then have a need to get grounded. Keep rockin' you too, all good things right backatcha!!
Kaim
Sun Jan 03 2021JUST AMAZING...Beautiful creation...
Bill Funk
Thanks Kaim! Was wondering if you had a website for your work... if so, shoot me a link via FB Messenger? Cheers!!
Martha
Sun Jan 03 2021Everything looks great Bill. Good to see those spectacular photos again. Only gripe is that you left out my favorite picture, and put in one that I don't like. Well, OK, I know it's the photographic skill that counts! And you're the best!
Bill Funk
You're right, there are a couple of dodgy ones (which only a mother could hate :-) that I couldn't really leave out due to the level of technique involved. As for the missing non-dodgy one, I'll check with you to make sure which one it is and will definitely add it ! Thanks so much for the comment... and the ego boost !! xoxo
Denzil
Sat Jan 02 2021Hey Bill, happy New Year to you and your family! I love your new site. A trip down Memory Lane for me, so many of my RedBubble faves ... I just used my last card of the Algarve dogs, and also my all-time fave, Heartbreak Hotel, so I'll pop back onto RB and do a bit of retail therapy! Lovely to see Birdpuss here too: my first ever fave on RB, all the way back on 07. Those were the days. I fell out with them a bit for a while, as they couldn't register a change of email address (excuse me, we put a few folk on the moon in 1968!), but sorted now, so I'm active again on that site, much though I regret where it has ended up. But someone bought something of mine just the other day, so I'll stick it. Again, always a joy to see your wonderful work, you are an inspiration.
Bill Funk
Happy New Year backatcha Denzil! OK, don't get me started on RedBubble. Those were fabulous years when RB was just revving up, we were such a tight community and it was all about the artists and the art. The ability to sell via the site was the icing on the cake and that's the way we all hoped it would stay. Of course with the growing number of contributors, the commercial side started making lots of money for the owners so it grew into a hard sell machine that has very little style and the artists are very much relegated to the closet. BUT... as you say, I don't see there's any point in closing down my account as people are buying my stuff and I don't have to do jack. So now I've got a cool place where my stuff lives where I can make it all about me and my asylum of a mind AND I can link it to RB and still get gum money. Win / win. And btw, all three of those pics you mention are big personal faves so many thanks for your support. We seem to inspire each other and that is the ground zero of creativity. So cool to get your feedback !! xo
Cynthia (Cia)
Fri Jan 01 2021You do indeed, rock. Just did a quick run through your gallery. I took my shoes off first though - no scuffs on your shiny floors! Love it all. Will be back to savor. Godspeed...
Bill Funk
Ya know what Cia? You're so far the only one who took their shoes off. So thanks for that cause I won't have to swiffer!! Having said that, scuff marks make the place look visited... so next time you can walk through mud first and I'll turn a blind eye :-) Thanks for savoring today, you got a free fast track pass btw... xo
Yvonne (Vonski)
Thu Dec 31 2020This is GREAT Bill! ~ The only tinzy thing I call into question is . . . amateur . . Dang! If you are an AMATEUR than I am a goo goo baby photographer!! Rock on MasterFunk!! :))
Bill Funk
I'm totally gonna be vain enough to take that as a compliment. And in fact just to have your feedback on my page is a compliment of the highest order. MasterFunk? Probably not as vain as my https:// billfunk.rocks ... but I'll take it :-) Big love 2UVonski !
Sharon
Wed Dec 30 2020Hey Bill...love it..! I have a large card of Sleepless in Seattle, I'll upgrade to a print one day! 'What's on my Stove'...I play around with things similar to this as well..good fun eh! Guessing people have already commented that it looks like Australia in the middle there and South America below. Pretty cool Bill.
Bill Funk
Sharon, I miss the days when I had time on my hands to do straight-forward experimental shots like What's On My Stove. And in the end those shots probably took less time than the heavily Photoshopped images. So absolutely let me see some of your results... they might inspire me to continue! In the meantime, thanks so much for leaving a comment... and for noticing the Australia / South America interplay, I should add that to the description :-)
Mandy
Tue Dec 29 2020My favourite is the mirror mirror one but they are all so clever and I can appreciate the work each one must have taken. The detail is amazing and every time I look at them I see different things Quite amazing !
Bill Funk
OJ was always a big inspiration Mandy, he never cooperated unless he was just about to doze off so I did ultimately find a successful way to work with him. Mirror Mirror was one of the earlier ones, and as do all of my pics with OJ it holds big real estate in my heart. Thanks so much for the visit and especially for leaving such a cool comment. Big love 2U!!
Karen
Mon Dec 28 2020I’ve always loved looking at your photos from the very first one I saw of Mel with candles in her hair. They blow my mind how great they are, keep them coming! Also love the descriptions, fascinating to know a bit more about why you have created the images x don’t stop x
Bill Funk
Cheers Karen, and yeah, that one of Mel blew a lot of people away... coulda got myself locked up under the Burning Hair of Daughters act, took a lot of effort to convince everyone it was Photoshopped as in those days not everyone was doing stuff lie that. Anyways, I'm still a free man and I will try to keep them coming. Special thanks for digging the descriptions, without them they'd just be pictures :-) xo
Barb
Sat Dec 12 2020Hey Bill, this looks great ! I love your choice of photos and the way they are displayed is perfect. The squidgy thing on your Home page looks spooky ... but then I love spooky! Keep up the great work and hope to see more photos join these soon. By the way, if I never told you, I love your comments on Smeagol's photo. So sweet. Thank you!!
Bill Funk
Thanks so much Barb, for stopping by and leaving such a cool comment! My ode to Smeagol came very natural to me as it was from the heart, he definitely had a major impact on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. I'm just happy to have both your little guys grace my portfolio gallery... def wouldn't be the same without them :-) Big love 2U xo!!
Valerie
Sun Nov 15 2020Stunning. Like walking through an extensive art gallery packed with photos, portraits people and objects. Your creations like good poetry, force me to reexamine myself and my place in the world. Great for meditation. U didn't see a place order prints. If I missed it, forgive me. I will keep praising this virtual art exhibit. Wow!
Bill Funk
Valerie, your take on my gallery rocks. It makes me so happy to hear when my stuff inspires in a positive way... and to see it related to poetry in any way is the sweetest icing on the planet. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, big love to you and the journey you're on. Take care, stay safe !!
Yvonne
Mon Nov 02 2020BILLY!!! This rocks!!! Good for you!! I would LOVE/FAV it on RB but I guess they removed that option!! But I LOVE and FAVE it here anyway!!!!! Your work is Tippytop notch and it I everwever see you in person I want a photo taken by you !!and I will of course shoot you as well (obv with camera!!) These are wonderful in so many ways!! Great idea to do this ! Now you have your work in a beautiful collection and safe from whatever RB decides to do (I swear some of my art has disappeared over time on their website) Cheers My Dear!!! xox
Bill Funk
Von, you know how much your positive feedback is appreciated on my planet! I did feel the need to have my work in a place where I had more control over presentation than I had on RB. My work does still sell over there so I'll hopefully never run out of chewing gum... but in here it's more about me and my creativity rather than marketing with hard sell. So yes, I'm now happy to have visitors come round for a browse and massive thanks for yours! And I got no problem with fitting you in for a duel at dawn... Cheers right backatcha!!! xx
Luuk
Thu Oct 29 2020Mr. Funk!! I love the infrared shots!! They look great! [email protected] 195.181.174.103
Bill Funk
That film was always a challenge to work with Luuk, you never knew what you were gonna get till it was developed. But it was fun and would love to get back to it... if I could still get hold of the film... and find someone on this planet to develop it. Thanks for the visit!
Erica
Fri Oct 16 2020Wow I really like your work! All galleries are interesting I like the lights you used and how the work is edited. Great talent. Very nice!! Xxx
Bill Funk
Hey Erica! Cool you mentioned the lights, I absolutely believe that lighting is the central and most impactful element of photography. And yes, the editing is an essential aspect of my style :-) Thanks so much for the feedback and appreciating my affliction, it's a pleasure having you and Axel at the studio! xox
Dirk
Mon Oct 12 2020Hi Bill, Just had a quick look at your gallery. Some of these pictures are more than art. They express inspiration. I can’t wait to see more of your work. Some of your pictures tell a great story. The background information really helps to get into your mind and understand how you wanted the result to be seen. Keep up the good work!
Bill Funk
Thanks so much for taking the time to look Dirk, and especially for checking out the back stories. Each picture absolutely does have its own tale and its own room in my soul. I really appreciate that you see that and put such positive feedback on my page!
Christian
We want more.
Bill Funk
Erwin
Fri Sep 18 2020Great Job Bill, it's clean I like it :-). Best regards Waxxxx
Bill Funk
Thanks Wax, I know you dig the black background... I'm surprised more photographers don't realize how much that adds to the dynamic of an image's presentation. The site designer kept it clean and simple and easy to navigate. Cool of you to stop by with a comment!
Adam
Thu Sep 10 2020Hey Billy, it's your old friend from Redbubble, Adam. Nice presentation on this website, as always, your photography is awesome. Some I have seen, some are new to me. Really fell in love with the infrared one with the creek and the low grass; a total knockout image for me. I wish you much success with your new site. Take care, Adam
Bill Funk
Always a treat to get feedback from old RB friends Adam, many thanks for popping in! Cool you dig the studded skull, my designer just rocked up with the idea and it was a no-brainer to put it on the welcome page. Don't think it moves on an iPhone so I'm happy you're on a machine that lets it do its thing :-) Happy too you like the infrared... few these days know what it was like to work with that amazing film which exposed to heat rather than light. It reacted differently to varied ambient conditions and you had to bracket pretty wide to make sure you ended up with a result. Florida seemed to love the stuff. Cheers for the wish, Take care you too !!
Ulla
Wed Sep 09 2020I have always loved your visions ! Your images are beautifully displayed on this long awaited site - congratulations.... Can't wait to see more from you. Cheers, Ulla
Bill Funk
Thanks for such a great compliment Ulla, I've always been a big fan of your work too!
Martha
Thu Aug 20 2020This is so cool Bill! Like Alun, I just love to see beautiful photography and you have presented so much of it on your website. I look forward to seeing more in the future. Love that picture of « you » at your desk!
Bill Funk
Yup, just thought I'd relax, take off my skin and check out the comments :-) Massive thanks for yours, and of course your ongoing support of my affliction. Hope there will me more pics to come soon... just gotta get off my bones and go out and shoot!! xoxo
Holly
Wed Aug 19 2020Nice site!! You have quite a collection of photos! It’s nice to see them all in one place
Bill Funk
Many thanks Holly, great to get your appreciation on my feedback page!
Gabriella
Wed Aug 12 2020Bravo!!!!!
Alun
Tue Aug 04 2020I am also involved in photography (it was a source of income for a few years even), and presently President of the Viewfinders photography club of Brussels. We are a real-live physical club holding meetings once a month, at the Swedish church near Merode metro station, when we often invite external speakers to present their work. Working language is English but members hail from all parts of the globe.Great fun and good for networking. It's a very laid-back club, certainly not geeky, with members who are or have been pro/semi-pro to those who just like looking at pictures. You'd be welcome to show your work as a presenter, too! Cheers, A.
Bill Funk
Thanks for the invite Alun, and for being my very first feedback comment ! So little time these days with work, but it would be good to finally connect and exchange ideas. In the meantime I'll check out the Viewfinders website & FB, sounds like a cool place. Also let me know where I can see some of your work!
Salem
Wed Jul 10 2024Crazy stuff in here !!!! Respect bro !
